On February 12, 2026, the City received an appeal of the Planning Commission’s approval of the Orchards Development Project. The City Council is scheduled to consider the appeal as part of a special City Council Meeting on April 7, 2026 at 7 p.m.

The Iron Horse Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing at Bollinger Canyon Road Project has received the 2026 Outstanding Local Streets and Roads Project Award from CSAC, Cal Cities and CEAC; as well as the 2026 Northern California Project of the Year Award from APWA.

At the third Public Hearing, held on February 3, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the Orchards Development Project consisting of the Orchards Master Plan and Orchards Neighborhood District Development. View the meeting recording and related documents.

The second public hearing on The Orchards proposed development (the site of the former Chevron Park property) took place at the Planning Commission Meeting on Tuesday, January 20. A recording of the meeting is now available to view.

​The City of San Ramon maintains an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), which includes detailed protocols for earthquake response, recovery, and coordination with regional partners.

On June 24, 2025, Sunset Development filed a Preliminary Housing Development application and rescinded their applications to amend the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance for The Orchards.

Sunset Development Company has submitted formal applications for The Orchards Development Project (formerly Chevron Park). The applications are currently under review by the City for completeness. Once the applications are deemed complete, a public review process will begin. There will be multiple opportunities for Public Comment throughout the public review process.

At the November 12, 2024 City Council meeting, the City Council adopted Objective Design and Development Standards for the Review of Qualifying Multi-Family and Residential Mixed-Use Developments (ODDS). Objective standards allow applicants to know what City design and development criteria apply to their project before they begin their design.

On February 27, 2023, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) found the City of San Ramon’s revised Adopted 2023–2031 Housing Element to be in substantial compliance with State Housing Element Law.

At the City Council meeting on January 30, 2023, the City Council adopted the 2023–2031 Housing Element of the General Plan 2040. Updates to the rest of the General Plan 2040 and Climate Action Plan will be reviewed at future public meetings.
