Chevron Announces Moving Headquarters to Houston, Texas
Posted on 08/02/2024

This morning, Chevron announced that they are planning to move their headquarters from San Ramon to Houston, Texas.

Chevron has been a part of San Ramon’s business community for many years, and the City understands the community’s interest in the potential economic impacts to San Ramon.

The former Chevron Park property on Bollinger Canyon Road was purchased by Sunset Development in 2022. Chevron began leasing new office space in Bishop Ranch, which was recently remodeled for their business needs, and will continue to maintain a presence in the local economy from their current office space in San Ramon, even with the transition in headquarters.

Sunset Development has conducted a number of community presentations and outreach events around the redevelopment of the former Chevron Park property (The Orchards). While no formal development application has been submitted, the project concept includes mixed-use residential, retail and entertainment, which would further diversify the local economy. (More information is available at sanramon.ca.gov/orchards).

For decades, Chevron has been a consistent sponsor of community events like the Art & Wind Festival, Summer Concert series, and annual Fitness Races. The City appreciates their support throughout the years, and looks forward to their continued involvement with community events as they maintain an office presence in San Ramon.

San Ramon has a diversified local economy, and no single business or corporation’s move will have an outsized impact on local revenue. The San Ramon City Council will continue to prioritize a business-friendly environment, with relatively low business license fees, an attractive community profile where employees want to work and play, and exciting development that welcomes businesses and families to spend more time in San Ramon. The City will continue to work with community partners and the Chamber of Commerce to support a vibrant business community, which can continue to accommodate changes in a dynamic economy.
