Saturdays from 11am to 2pm
Fun on the Farm Activities are FREE* crafts and activities that highlight farm life and the late Victorian era. These Saturday events are an opportunity to step back into history and enjoy the simple things of life. These free Saturday events are a partnership between the City of San Ramon and the San Ramon Historic Foundation.
*Special events hosted by the San Ramon Historic Foundation are fee-based fund-raising programs that require registration and will be indicated as such.
MAY
May 3 Marshmallow Painting
S’mores are a summer favorite and the modern marshmallow was invented around 1850. Come learn the history of this sticky confection and make a fun painting with marshmallows.
May 10 Mother’s Day Quilting
Come and learn about the history of quilting and create your own paper quilt square
May 17 Sewing and Buttons
What would sewing be without buttons? Come learn the surprising and ancient history of buttons and try your hand at the button sewing process.

May 31 Animal Tracking
Look what animals leave behind—tracks! See pictures of animal tracks that you may see at the farm, learn tips for reading tracks, and make an animal track print to take home.
JUNE
June 7 *NEW* Orienteering
Orienteering is the practice of using a map and compass to navigate between points. It is also a fun sport. Come learn the basics of orienteering and use your new skills on a scavenger hunt around the farm!
June 14 Father's Day – Old Fashioned Lawn Games
Lawn games have been around for centuries in various forms. Come learn about some of the most common and popular to the Victorian Era in the United States and try your hand at a few!
June 21 Fun with Bubbles
Enjoy an activity that has been a favorite of children for many years as you blow bubbles then make some giant bubbles and watch them float away on the breeze.
June 28 Fans and Keeping Cool
Learn how people kept their cool and how they stored their food before we had an air conditioner or refrigerator. Make your own fan to take home.

July 12 *NEW* Tassajara 4-H Chickens
Meet the chickens that live on the farm, chat with Tassajara 4-H on chicken care tips, learn how chickens provided for pioneer families and how people are bringing farming to their home with backyard chickens. Make a chicken craft to take home.
July 19 Old Fashioned Ice Cream
What goes into making a cool, tasty summertime treat like ice cream? Come learn how simple it is and help turn the crank to make homemade ice cream and then sample this treat.
July 26 Sun Flowers
Come and learn how we use our sunflower stalks in the garden. Enjoy making a sunflower piece of art and eat a few while you are.
August
August 2 Windmills & Water
Turn a handle and water pours out of the faucet. It wasn’t so easy in the days gone by. Learn how pioneers got their water, pump water with a hand pump, and spot a water tank high above your head. When it takes this much work, you won’t want to waste a drop.
August 9 Soap Making
Learn the art of soap making using natural ingredients and fall scents to make your own soap to take home.
August 16 School Days
It's time to head back to school. Learn what a school day was like in the early 1900's and practice your penmanship with pen and ink.
August 23 Clothespin Superheroes and Dolls
Children have been making clothespin dolls for well over 100 years! Learn more about the history of clothespin dolls and make your own to take home.
