City Council Votes to Place Sales Tax Measure on November 2024 Ballot

City Council Adopts Budget for 2024/25 Fiscal Year

At the City Council Meeting on June 25, the San Ramon City Council adopted a balanced budget for the 2024/25 Fiscal Year (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025). This budget closes a $17.6 million shortfall in revenue through several strategies, including $8.1 million in budget cuts across all departments, un-funding vacant staff positions, and increasing user fees for City services.

Summer Repaving of the Ironhorse Trail Begins Monday, June 10
06/07/2024
Two sections of the Iron Horse Trail in San Ramon will be closed from June 10 to July 31, 2024 for pavement repairs. The affected areas are between Greenbrook Drive and Norris Canyon Road, and between Montevideo Drive and Alcosta Boulevard.

Aspenwood Senior Apartments: Now Accepting Applications

The construction of the Aspenwood Senior Apartment project for 122 income-restricted senior apartment units, made possible in part by significant funding from the City, continues to make progress toward occupancy, and is anticipated to open in February. The developer has begun accepting applications for eligible senior (62+) households.

Upcoming ACI Rate Adjustment

Waste collection rates will go up 5% beginning January 1, 2024. Most households have 35-gallon service, and currently pay $145.08 per quarter ($48.36 per month). Beginning January 1, the adjusted rate will be $152.33 for the same service, an increase of $7.25 per quarter, or $2.42 per month.

The work includes bridge construction, grading, paving, landscape, lighting, traffic signal work, crosswalk removal, and median improvements. PRESTO Autonomous Vehicle Shuttle Service Open to the Public in Bishop Ranch

On September 28, 2022, Sunset Development announced the purchase of Chevron’s 92-acre, 1.3-million-square-foot “Chevron Park” campus in Bishop Ranch off Bollinger Canyon Road. On December 6, 2022, the San Ramon Planning Commission, as part of its regular meeting, held a Study Session to gather input on the property.

San Ramon Among 19 Cities Awarded Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in Intergovernmental Collaboration

The League of California Cities announced that Contra Costa County and 19 area cities and towns, including the City of San Ramon, won the esteemed 2022 Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in Intergovernmental Collaboration for the A3 Community Crisis Response initiative, which seeks to transform the region’s behavioral health care and emergency response system.

San Ramon's Next Police Chief: Denton Carlson

Following a nationwide search, Denton Carlson has been selected as San Ramon’s next Chief of Police. Carlson currently serves as Captain with the San Ramon Police Department, and has more than 24 years of experience as a peace officer—including 20 within the San Ramon community. He will take the Oath of Office at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, July 26 at San Ramon City Hall.

New Alarm Registration Program Begins Friday, July 1

The City of San Ramon is launching a new Alarm Registration Program. Beginning Friday, July 1, every San Ramon residence or business with an alarm system must obtain an alarm permit. Permits are free and free annual renewal is required.
