ROAD AND LANDSCAPING PROJECTS

ROAD PROJECTS

  • BOLLINGER CANYON ROAD/IRON HORSE TRAIL PEDESTRIAN OVERCROSSING - This project will remove bicycles and pedestrians from the at-grade crossing/intersection thereby improving the flow of vehicles traveling on Bollinger Canyon Road.

  •  CITYWIDE BICYCLE NETWORK IMPROVEMENTS & ENHANCEMENTS - This project will prioritize and upgrade the City’s Bicycle Network as identified in the City’s Bicycle Master Plan. Improvements include separated bike lanes/routes or increasing width of facilities and increasing visibility by installing green bike lanes and other enhancements in conjunction with annual Pavement Management Program.

  • CROW CANYON ROAD CORRIDOR WIDENING & IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT - This consist of multiple projects within the Crow Canyon Road corridor that provides for improvements to Crow Canyon Road between Alcosta Boulevard and Dougherty Road. The improvements include road widening of Crow Canyon Road as well as intersection improvements and enhancements within the project limits. 

  • FARIA PRESERVE PARKWAY PROJECT - This project will extend westerly 5,300 feet from the Purdue Road Extension Project through the new Faria Preserve development and connect to Bollinger Canyon Road. This Project will be constructed by the Developer of the Faria Preserve development.

  • PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT AND PAVEMENT REPAIR/STOP GAP PROJECTS - The projects will provide for street rehabilitation in accordance with the City's annual Pavement Management Program to maintain "critical point" assessment method and current PCI of 78.

  • SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL (SRTS) ENHANCEMENTS PROJECT - This project will provide enhancements to Citywide School Routes as identified in the SRTS Report. Each year, conduct observations and work directly with school site administrators to enhance school site safety, making targeted improvements at warranted locations. 

  • TRAFFIC CALMING PROGRAM - This project provides for the installation of traffic calming devices at various locations as requested and as evaluated and deemed appropriate.  This year, work includes traffic calming and operational improvements at the intersection of Holborn Way and Windemere Parkway.

LANDSCAPE PROJECTS

  • CENTRALIZED IRRIGATION SYSTEM UPGRADE PROJECT - This project will upgrade the irrigation controllers that are older than ten years old and convert the controllers that utilize digital communication format with the central computer to local radio transmission.

  • CITYWIDE LANDSCAPE AND LIGHTING DISTRICTS - The various projects provide landscape renovations and irrigation improvements to various zones as well as Citywide.

  • STREET LANDSCAPE PLANTING RENOVATION PROJECT - This project will provide annual landscaping improvements/renovations to the landscaping medians throughout the City.

  • DOUGHERTY VALLEY STEEL FENCE REPLACEMENT -This project will replace or repair tubular steel frame fences in the Dougherty Valley area damaged by the recycled water used in the area at identified priority locations.

  • DOUGHERTY VALLEY TREE PLANTING PROGRAM - This project will provide for the removal of selected trees located in narrow planter strips of various subdivisions within the Dougherty Valley and install different type of trees to not conflict with concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, utilities, and landscape irrigation.
TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROJECTS
  • CITYWIDE INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ITS) UPGRADE PROJECT – This project will plan and upgrade components to assist in improving signal communications for improved monitoring and programming. This year, install ATSPM cameras and equipment on Bollinger Canyon Road from Dougherty Road (N) to Albion Road; Automated Driving System (ADS) and Countywide Smart Signals installation; and complete Fiber Optic Master Plan to expand ITS Master Plan to also include other communication needs outside of Transportation.

  • PEDESTRIAN ENHANCEMENT DEVICES PROJECT – This project installs devices to enhance uncontrolled crosswalks at locations where drivers benefit from increased awareness of pedestrian activity. This year, replace an existing in-pavement flasher with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) system on Camino Ramon at Crow Canyon Commons Driveway.

  • TRAFFIC SIGNALS IMPROVEMENTS AND ENHANCEMENTS PROJECT - This project provides for improvements, upgrades, and enhancements to City’s traffic signal system, which includes 99 signalized intersections, 11 in-roadway flashing warning lights, 12 flashing warning beacons, and 14 radar speed display units. Currently, will upgrade and replace audible pedestrian units, battery backup units, conflict monitors, Opticom pre-emption eyes and cards, signal cabinet and controllers, and fiber optic modules. This year, work also includes the replacement of four in-pavement flashers with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) systems at Alcosta Boulevard/Brockton Avenue, Harcourt Way/Craiglee Way, Talavera Drive/Cardona Circle, and Crow Canyon Place/Magnolia Square Driveway.
PARKS AND FACILITY PROJECTS

  • CITY FACILITIES EXTERIOR AMENITIES PROJECT - This project will provide for the renovation or replacement of existing amenities located in the exterior of City facilities including security gates, trash enclosures, and backflow blankets. This year, repairs to the Dougherty Station Service Center security gates.
  • CITY FACILITIES HVAC DUCT CLEANING & EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT PROJECT - This project will provide for the cleaning of duct systems as well as upgrades and replacement of the HVAC equipment at City facilities. This year, work includes duct cleaning at San Ramon Olympic Pool and Aquatic Park.

  • CITY FACILITIES ROOF COVERING MAINTENANCE AND REPLACEMENT PROJECT - This project will provide for the replacement and or repair of roof coverings at City facilities.

  • CITYWIDE DOG PARK RENOVATIONS PROJECT - This project will renovate existing dog parks and make them more user friendly by adding improved surfaces material, shade and/or other amenities. This year, work will be to purchase amenities and play features to enhance the existing dog parks.

  • CITYWIDE PLAYGROUND UPGRADES PROJECT - This project will retrofit playgrounds at various City Parks. This year, playground equipment will be replaced at Hidden Valley Park.

  • CITYWIDE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS PROJECT – This project will purchase and/or upgrade Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations including the hardware and materials. This year, complete installation of new charging stations at City Hall and San Ramon Sports Park.

  • CITYWIDE PARKS AMENITIES REPLACEMENT AND IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT - This project will provide replacement of aging park infrastructure, site amenities, and provide enhancements to the existing park features. This will be a multi-year, phased project. This coming year will include replacement of drinking fountains, barbeques, benches, picnic tables, and garbage cans at various City parks; concrete paving and dugout screen at Athan Downs Park; benches at Memorial Park; perimeter fencing and Fibar at the playground at Souyen Park; lighting at Skate Park at Central Park; painting of restroom at Valley View Park; path asphalt surfacing at Walt Disney Park; basketball court resurfacing at Creekside and Piccadilly Square Parks; and poured in place surfacing Central Park.

  • CITYWIDE TRAIL AMENITIES REPLACEMENT & IMPROVEMENTS – This project will replace and enhance aging trail infrastructure and amenities throughout San Ramon's Trail System.  This will be a multi-year phased project. This year, four benches will be replaced at Dougherty Valley Ridge Trail.

  • CRICKET FIELD INSTALLATION - This project will convert an existing sports field to a Cricket Field and Pitch at Quail Run Elementary School.

  • DOUGHERTY STATION COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER RENOVATION – This project will update and/or renovate building elements at the Community Center including paint, flooring, bathroom updates, and lighting upgrades.

  • DOUGHERTY VALLEY AQUATIC CENTER EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT PROJECT - This project will provide for the replacement of pool heaters, pumps, motors, and related equipment at the Dougherty Valley Aquatic Center.

  • FOREST HOME FARMS STRUCTURES PROJECT – This project will provide renovations to the structures within Forest Home Farms site. Completed exterior painting of the Welcome Center, Boone House and Outbuildings (Walnut Processing Barn, Sheep Barn and flooring, Garage, Meat Locker, Granary), and improvements to Grotto and organic garden. This year, replace Sheep Pasture border fence and start the complete Boone House Renovation Study.

  • FOUNTAIN REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT PROJECT- This project will provide repairs and renovation to existing City fountains on an as-needed basis. This year, replace UV Unit and liquid metering pump for the Central Park Children's Participatory Fountain. 

  • INTERIOR AMENITIES PROJECT - This project provides for the renovation and replacement of interior surfaces throughout the City's facilities, which will maintain the facilities' appearance and prolong the life expectancy of the assets. This year, replace one AED unit each at the Dougherty Station Community Arts Center, Dougherty Valley Service Center, and Iron Horse Gymnasium, Pine Valley Gymnasium, and Dougherty Valley Senior Center. 

  • IRRIGATION BOOSTER PUMP INSTALLATION PROJECT - This project will install irrigation booster pumps to provide optimum pressure and eliminate wet spots to allow for more playable field conditions. This year, work includes Coyote Creek Elementary School Park and Holborn Way at Windemere Parkway and Kearney Way at Windemere Parkway in Dougherty Valley.

  • RESTROOM RENOVATIONS PROJECT - This project will repair and renovate existing restroom buildings with new, prefabricated restroom buildings for public use. This year, work will be at Richard Fahey Village Green Park.

  • PICKLEBALL COURT CONVERSION - This project will covert one existing tennis court into a pickleball court at Central Park which is complete; with additional improvements including a barrier system around courts to keep balls in-bounds.

  • POLICE AND FIRE DISTRICT JOINT PUBLIC SAFETY COMPLEX PROJECT – This project will renovate the existing 2401 Permit Center and Police Department into a joint public safety complex to be used by the Police Department and San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Administration and construct a new 911 Emergency Dispatch and Emergency Operations Center. This year, work includes secured Police Department parking lot restoration and overall project punch list items site cleanup.

  • PUBLIC ART IN PARKS PROJECT - This project will provide for a commissioned piece of public art for City parks throughout the City. This year, retrofitting the memorial structure to complement the installation of the eagle public art piece at Memorial Park, and Art piece at the San Ramon Library.

  • PUBLIC MEETING ACCESS ENHANCEMENTS PROJECT – This project will provide upgrades to City facilities that host public meetings by installing new technology that improves meeting broadcast quality, participation options, and enhance meeting efficiency. Completed new video wall at rotunda in City Hall including video, audio, and lighting system upgrades. This year, install enhancements to City Council Chambers including broadcasting system upgrades, lighting, monitors, and retrofit to include a staff table near the podium.

  • RECREATION PROGRAM AND FACILITIES EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT PROJECT - This project will provide for the replacement of aging equipment used in recreation programs in community facilities throughout the City. This year, replace aging speakers and audio components at San Ramon Olympic Pool and Aquatic Center, replace Art and Ceramics Studio equipment at Dougherty Station Community Arts Center, and soundboard and sound equipment at Dougherty Valley Performing Arts.

  • SAN RAMON COMMUNITY CENTER RENOVATION PROJECT – This project will update and/or renovate building elements at the Community Center including paint, flooring, kitchen and bathroom updates, window replacement, lighting, overall aesthetic modernization and upgrade to portions of exterior including terrace patio shade structure.

  • SAN RAMON OLYMPIC POOL AND AQUATIC PARK RENOVATION PROJECT – This project will update and/or renovate building elements at the Olympic Pool and Aquatic Park including paint, flooring, bathroom and locker room updates, lighting updates as well as ADA compliance updates. The project installed new play equipment, replastered the Children’s and 50M pools, repaired the 50M cantilever deck, replaced the big blue slide, and installed a fence around the lap pool.

  • SAN RAMON OLYMPIC POOL EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT PROJECT - This project will provide for the replacement of pool heaters, pumps, motors and related equipment at San Ramon Olympic Pool. This year, replastering of Lap Pool.

  • SHADE STRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - This project will provide for the installation of new shade structures throughout City parks based on a prioritization of need and availability of funding. This year, locations include Bellingham Square Park and Central Park Amphitheater.

  • SUNRISE RIDGE PARK (PRESERVE NEIGHBORHOOD PARK) PROJECT – This project will add a 12.9-acre park and 0.7-acre Rose Garden at the south side of Faria Preserve Parkway. The new Park will include the following amenities: play areas, baseball and soccer fields, sports courts for basketball, bocce ball, and tennis, as well as restroom facilities.

  • WASTE FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT - This project will renovate existing trash enclosures and other waste facilities to improve waste containment and handling efficiencies. This year, renovate and enhance the San Ramon Service Center waste facility.

OTHER PROJECTS
  • 2023 STORM DAMAGE REPAIRS PROJECT – This project will remove sediment from Norris Creek and its road culverts due to the New Year’s weekend of 2022 into 2023 storm.

  • CITYWIDE DRAINAGE INFRSTRUCTURE REPAIRS PROJECT – This project will remove sediment and repair winter damage along all City maintained creeks and storm drain systems within the City.

  • KAMI COURT LANDSLIDE REPAIR PROJECT – This project will design and construct mitigations and repairs for a landslide east of Kami Court within the Dougherty Valley Geologic Hazard Abatement District. Mitigation completed in 2021 with additional monitoring and minor repairs addressed as needed.

  • PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS - Annual Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk Repairs throughout the City.

  • SB 1383 PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT – This project will implement Senate Bill (SB) 1383, the Short-Lived Climate Pollutant Reduction Act, through using, purchasing of equipment, supplies, and facility improvements; and outreach and education about the use of organic products and solid waste related purchases and activities.

ROAD PROJECTS

  • BICYCLE MASTER PLAN UPDATE PROJECT – This project will update the adopted Citywide Bicycle Master Plan to include projects already completed, revisions to priority projects, and update cost estimates and network map.

  • CROW CANYON ROAD/IRON HORSE TRAIL PEDESTRIAN OVERCROSSING - This project involves preliminary design and environmental analysis for removing bicycles and pedestrians from the at-grade crossing/intersection thereby improving the flow of vehicles traveling on Crow Canyon Road. This year, work includes preliminary design/concept review and NEPA updates, and design.

  • INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ITS) MASTER PLAN UPDATE PROJECT – This project will update the adopted Citywide Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Master Plan to include projects already completed, revisions to priority projects, update cost estimates, and network map.

  • VISION ZERO ACTION PLAN - This project will develop a Vision Zero Plan that will build on the Local Roadway Safety Plan (LRSP) that was approved in 2022 to develop strategies to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries.

LANDSCAPE PROJECTS

  • CITY SIGNAGE PROJECT – This project provides for the installation of City entry signage at city entrances, decorative directional signage as well as park monuments throughout the City. Future work includes the replacement of entry sign on Crow Canyon Road and Blackhawk/Town of Danville City Limits and entry signage at Crow Canyon Gardens.

PARKS AND FACILITY PROJECTS
  • BARTLETT PEAR PARK (BISHOP RANCH 6 NEIGHBORHOOD PARK) PROJECT – This project will add a 2.0-acre park on the corner of Executive Parkway and Camino Ramon. The new park will include the following amenities: play areas, restroom facilities, bio-retention, and landscaping.

  • CROW CANYON GARDENS FACILITIES IMPROVEMENTS - This project will complete master plan for the site and begin design and improvements in phases., The first phase will include design of the Gardens restoration including removal of the Mudd's structures, and initial site improvements and utilities.
  • MIDDLE SCHOOL TEEN CENTER PORTABLES – This project will provide modular office and classrooms on the campuses in City. This year, installing a prefabricated unit at Pine Valley Middle School through collaboration with San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

  • PUBLIC ART IN PARKS PROJECT - This project will provide for a commissioned piece of public art for City parks throughout the City.  This year, begin design for Art Piece to be installed at the newly renovated Dougherty Station Community Arts Center. 

  • SAN CATANIO CREEK PARK (WOOD LOT) PROJECT - This project will add a 4.75-acre park on the east side of Bollinger Canyon Road, north of Norris Canyon Road. The new park will be built by Developer as a condition of the CityWalk development. 

  • SAN RAMON TRAILS MASTER PLAN – This project will complete a Master Plan to address the needs of changing San Ramon community and will provide an in-depth study and analysis of all City trails and open space to assist in planning future projects and programming.

CREEK AND FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS
  • 2023 STORM DAMAGE REPAIRS PROJECT – This project will repair the creek bank erosion along Coyote and South San Ramon Creeks and repair three damaged risers in water quality control ponds due to the New Year's weekend of 2022 into 2023 storm.

  • CITYWIDE DRAINAGE INFRASTRUCTURE REPAIRS - This project will fund repairs to City Drainage infrastructure such as storm drains, culverts, and flood control channels.

OTHER PROJECTS

  • CITYWIDE AERIAL MAPPING AND GIS SUPPORT PROJECT - This project will provide for aerial imaging of the City to capture the development and growth of the Dougherty Valley as well as additional mapping and GIS capital improvements.

  • ZERO EMISSIONS FLEET STUDY PROJECT – This project will complete research and conduct planning to transition the City's vehicle fleet to zero emission vehicles.

  • OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION PROJECT - This project will provide for the acquisition as well as preservation efforts of Citywide Open Space in cooperation and direction of the Open Space Advisory Committee.
