Earthquake Swarm Informational Event

San Ramon Valley community members are invited to attend an informational event on recent earthquakes next Friday, February 27 at 10 a.m. at the San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd, San Ramon CA 94583).

Attendees will hear from Dr. Angie Lux, a seismologist and Project Scientist at the Berkeley Seismology Lab who specializes in earthquake early warning systems; San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Chief Jonas Aguiar; and the valley's elected officials. 

The event is free and open to the public.

State of the City 2025

State of the City 2026

At the State of the City address, San Ramon Mayor Mark Armstrong will share San Ramon updates from the past year, along with what residents can expect in the coming year.

The deadline to purchase tickets for lunch is Wednesday, February 25. Members of the public who do not wish to purchase a lunch ticket may attend the presentation free of charge; no RSVP is required.

A recording of the presentation will also be available on the City website 7-10 days after the event.

Sandbag Stations Open at Three Locations

As any incoming storms take shape each year, the City of San Ramon makes sandbag supplies available for public use. San Ramon residents or businesses that require sand or sandbags must bring a shovel and helping hands to one of three locations for supplies (bags and sand provided):

What you can do:

To report clogged storm drains, downed trees, or flooding challenges, please call (925) 973-2800 during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.) or the San Ramon Valley 911 Communication Center at (925) 973-2779 after hours, and they will contact the appropriate Public Works staff for a response.

Symphonic Band Spring Concert

The San Ramon Symphonic Band, conducted by Larry B. Colon, presents Voices of the Land on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center (10550 Albion Road, San Ramon CA 94582). 

This concert celebrates the natural world and the stories it inspires. Featuring music by Aaron Copland, Rossano Galante, Frank Ticheli, Percy Grainger, and Alfred Reed, this program journeys through wide-open landscapes, towering forests, and timeless folk traditions.

Expressive, energetic, and welcoming to all, this concert invites listeners of every age and background to connect with the land through music that is both powerful and deeply human.

Street Smarts presents

21st Annual “Be Reel!” Video Contest for Middle and High School Students
Submission Deadline Extended! Tuesday, March 3 at 4 p.m.

Be Reel 2026

The San Ramon Valley Street Smarts program is excited to announce its annual “Be Reel!” Video Contest! All Middle and High School Students are invited to unleash their creativity while promoting traffic safety through short videos.

This year’s theme is “Safety First!” Students are encouraged to create public service announcement videos that educate the community about important traffic safety issues.

Exciting Prizes Await! High school and middle school participants, competing in teams of up to 4 team members, can compete for the following prizes:

  • 1st Prize:     $300 in Amazon Gift Cards
  • 2nd Prize:    $200 in Amazon Gift Cards
  • 3rd Prize:     $100 in Amazon Gift Cards

Prizes will be awarded separately for each age group.

The winning videos will be shared online and showcased at San Ramon Valley Elementary and Middle School Traffic Safety Education Assemblies.

STREET SMARTS is a traffic safety education program serving the San Ramon Valley. The program is a partnership between the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, the City of San Ramon, the Town of Danville, the County of Contra Costa, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs and other Community Partners and Sponsors.


New TRAFFIX School Bus Service: The Preserve to Cal High

TRAFFIX

TRAFFIX has added a new bus stop to an existing bus route (CA17A) serving California High School (CHS) for The Preserve neighborhood. This route expansion will reduce traffic congestion in the vicinity of CHS and provide relief to parents and students who currently drive their students daily to school.

The annual cost for daily TRAFFIX service to/from CHS and The Preserve is $664. Passes for the second semester only have been pro-rated to $400 (started January 8, 2026).

Personal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) Class 
Tuesday, February 24 (Ages 16+), 6–9 p.m.
Monday, March 23 (Family PEP - all ages welcome!), 6–9 p.m.
Tuesday, April 28 (Ages 16+), 6–9 p.m.

San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is pleased to offerPersonal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) Classes every month in 2026!

What do you personally need in your Emergency Preparedness Kit? Have you wanted to start a kit or create an emergency plan, but have not found the motivation? It's time to find out what YOU need to be ready and respond in a disaster situation.

PEP is designed for individuals and families (ages 10–110) to learn the importance of personal and home disaster preparedness, and how to survive after a major emergency. This class will prepare the individual, their home and their family with the information, supplies and skills needed to be self-sufficient for 7+ days in a disaster. 

During thisFREEPEP Class, participants will learn:

  • What to do before, during and after a major emergency
  • Hazard Mitigation and Utility Control
  • Personal and Family Emergency Supplies
  • Staying Calm Amid Chaos

Upon completion of the program, participants will have the knowledge and resources to create a home emergency plan, build an emergency kit with supplies, and complete basic emergency response tasks in and around their home.
