Landscaping and Tree Maintenance

Landscape Staff

The Landscape Maintenance Program oversees more than 400 acres of landscaped areas and more than 45,000 trees throughout Dougherty Valley, Special Assessment Zones, public rights-of-way, roadsides, and medians. Private contractors perform routine landscape and tree maintenance, while City staff oversee the work to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established maintenance standards. City staff also maintain all irrigation infrastructure.

Core services include:

  • Turf mowing for healthy, well-maintained lawn areas
  • Shrub and groundcover pruning to maintain plant health and visibility
  • Tree pruning and removal for safety, clearance, and appearance
  • Leaf and litter collection to keep public spaces clean and accessible
  • Weed abatement to control invasive growth and maintain a tidy landscape
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to minimize pesticide use and protect the environment
  • Fertilization to promote long-term plant vitality
  • Irrigation infrastructure maintenance

The City’s landscape maintenance standards establish service levels, appearance expectations, and sustainability goals. These standards are applied citywide, including in the Landscaping and Lighting District 1984-1 and The Preserve, where maintenance is funded by local property owners.
