Captain Becky Chestnut Selected as San Ramon's Next Chief of Police

Captain Becky Chestnut

The City of San Ramon is pleased to announce the selection of Captain Becky Chestnut as the City’s next Chief of Police, effective Monday, December 15. Chestnut brings more than two decades of experience in law enforcement, most recently as a Captain with the San Ramon Police Department since 2023.

“Becky Chestnut’s deep understanding of our city and its values makes her the ideal choice for Chief of Police," said City Manager Steven Spedowfski. “Her leadership and commitment to our residents will be of great benefit to our community.”

San Ramon's Winter 2025 Recreation Guide is here, and registration is now open to residents!

Registration opens to non-residents on Monday, December 8.

Register online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at sanramonrecguide.com


Register in person 
at the following locations:

  • San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd)
    Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. (closed at 3:30 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday and last Wednesday of the month)

  • Alcosta Senior & Community Center (9300 Alcosta Blvd)
    Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. 

Note: City facilities will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.

Toys for Tots Holiday Toy Drive
Donations Accepted through Tuesday, December 16

Toys for Tots 2025

Brighten a child's holiday season by supporting the Toys for Tots holiday toy drive, now through Tuesday, December 16!

The City of San Ramon is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for ages 0–18 at the following City facilities during business hours:

  • San Ramon City Hall
    7000 Bollinger Canyon Road
    Monday–Friday8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.

  •  San Ramon Community Center
    12501 Alcosta Blvd
    Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
    (closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m.)

  •  Alcosta Senior and Community Center
    9300 Alcosta Blvd
    Monday–Friday8:30 a.m.–3 p.m.
    (closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m.)

Note: City facilities will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.

Letters to the North Pole

Letters to Santa 2024

Santa Claus is coming to town! The City of San Ramon has a special red mailbox and the letters are delivered directly to the North Pole. Write Santa a letter and you will receive a reply from Santa Claus himself!

Santa’s red mailbox is located in the lobby of San Ramon City Hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road). Parents will receive the original letter back, and Santa will send his reply directly to the child.

You can choose to have your child write a letter themselves or fill out our Santa Letter form. Please be sure to print your child’s name and address so that Santa can reply.

All letters must be received by December 19. The letter from Santa will be mailed by December 22.

Bah Humbug! 5k Run/Walk & Kids Dash

5K Race starts at 8:30 a.m.

Bah Humbug 2025

The Bah Humbug! 5k Run/Walk and Kids Dash, presented by the City of San Ramon, is a fun way to start the holiday season, and is great for families and children!

The Bah Humbug! is a chip-timed race, which begins and ends at San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd, San Ramon, CA). Participants will receive a long-sleeved holiday shirt and the famous Bah Humbug! ornament.

Registration:

Online registration will remain open through December 5. Registration will be accepted on the day of the race from 7:15—7:45 a.m.

Packet Pick-up:

Shirts and bibs will be distributed at packet pick-up at San Ramon Sports Basement (1041 Market Place) on Friday, December 5 from 1–5 p.m. For participants who cannot attend packet pick-up, race gear will be available on race day.

All race day registrants will receive their shirts upon completion of the event on "first-come, first-served" basis. Shirts are only guaranteed to pre-registered participants.  

Costume Contest:

Make sure to come dressed in costume and in the spirit of the run! Costume awards will be given for Most Grinch-Like, Best Holiday Spirit and Best Group Theme.
