Ote'a
Dancing to drums in Tahiti is called ‘Ote‘a. This video shows the group Motu‘aina, based in Danville, California, performing ‘Ote‘a at half-time for the Golden State Warriors Polynesian Heritage Night on March 23, 2019. This was the last Polynesian Heritage Night held in Oracle Arena. The performance group is made up of some of the youngest dancers at 5 years old, through some of the parents, who also dance. The drumming is a recording of Motu‘aina’s own in-house Drumming Group.
Tahitian Christmas
As we approach the Holiday Season, Motu'aina remembers some of their most fun performances. This video features the youngest group – called Tiny Hips, ages 3 – 6 years – in Motu‘aina. The performance was during their annual Holiday Show at Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center. The performance is a Tahitian spin on the classic song, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
