Notice of Vacancy: City Council District 2
Application Deadline: 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025
The San Ramon City Council is accepting applications to appoint an applicant fromDistrict 2to fill the remainder of an unexpired term on the City Council. The successful applicant would serve from the time of appointment until the results of the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election are certified by the City Council.
The vacancy is due to Mark Armstrong being elected Mayor, leaving his previous City Council seat (District 2) vacant. At a Special City Council Meeting on Wednesday, December 11, the City Council met to discuss how to fill the seat. The City Council voted to receive applications and appoint a new Council member on the schedule below.

City Council Special Meeting: January 6, 2025
Up to eight (8) applicants will be selected and invited to a formal interview by the City Council on January 10, 2025.
Formal Interviews of Applicants by City Council:January 10, 2025
This is the only interview date. All invited applicants must be available to attend during this public meeting. Following the interviews, the council will select a council member to fill the vacancy.
Oath of Office: January 14, 2025
The new council member from District 2 will be sworn in at the City Council meeting.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens over 18 years of age, a registered voter in District 2, and reside within District 2 in the City of San Ramon.
Applications must besubmitted online prior to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025. Selected applicants must attend interviews scheduled on Friday, January 10, 2025, with a time to be announced.

Notice of Vacancy: Planning Commission

The City of San Ramon is currently recruiting for 1 Regular Member for the San Ramon Planning Commission, with a term to expire in June 2027.
The Planning Commission advises the City Council on land use matters related to growth and development and provides ongoing input on the provision and delivery of carrying out the General Plan.
The Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of every month, with additional meetings scheduled as necessary.
Applications are due by Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

Formal Development Applications Filed for The Orchards (formerly Chevron Park)
Sunset Development Company has submitted formal applications for The Orchards Development Project (formerly Chevron Park). The applications are currently under review by the City for completeness, and once the applications are deemed complete, a public review process will begin. There will be multiple opportunities for Public Comment throughout the public review process.
Sunset Development announced in 2022 the purchase of Chevron’s 92-acre, 1.3-million-square-foot “Chevron Park” campus. New Play Structure Installation at Ramona Park Complete
Reopens Friday, December 20
The installation of the new play structure at Ramona Park is now complete. Construction fencing will be removed on Friday, December 20, and the playground will be available to the public.
City of San Ramon Holiday Office Closures
Wed, Dec 25 – Wed, Jan 1
Several City offices and facilities will be closed in observance of winter holidays December 25–January 1. City offices will re-open at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2024.
The following facilities will be closed Wednesday, December 25–Wednesday, January 1 and will re-open Thursday, January 2:
- City Hall, including the Permit Center and Passport Services (7000 Bollinger Canyon Rd)
- San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd)
- Alcosta Senior and Community Center (9300 Alcosta Blvd)
- Dougherty Station Community Arts Center (17011 Bollinger Canyon Rd)
- San Ramon Service Center (5000 Crow Canyon Rd)
Emergency services will not be affected by the holiday closure, and Police Patrol Services will continue to be provided.
For emergencies, please call 911.
For non-urgent maintenance requests, please submit a CRM here.

Volunteer Opportunity: City Hall Docents for Third Grade Tours
The San Ramon City Clerk’s office is seekingdocentsto leadthird grade school tours of City Hallduring the 2024/25 school year. The program includes a tour of City Hall, and a scripted mock City Council meeting.
The tours are scheduled on weekdaysfrom 9:30–11 a.m.Docents do not need to be present for every tour and may select dates when available.
All volunteers must be 18 or older and pass a background and fingerprint check. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk.

ACI Holiday Garbage Collection Schedule
Don’t forget: due to the holidays, from December 25–January 4, garbage collection for regular Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday customers will be delayed by one day.

Boy Scout Tree Collection: Saturday, January 4
ACI Tree Collection: Week of January 6–10
Single Family Curbside Holiday Tree Collection Program
The Boy Scouts Annual Holiday Tree Pick Up is January 4, 2025. The suggested donation is $10. Click here to reserve your pick-up.
ACI of San Ramon will collect trees curbside on your regular collection day from January 6–10, 2025.
- Collection will be done using a special truck that may service your block much earlier or much later than the regular trucks.
- Please remove all lights, decorations, tinsel and the tree stand before placing your tree out next to your carts.
- Trees over 6 feet tall should be cut in half.
- Please do not place the tree in any type of plastic wrap or bag.
- Small trees may be placed inside your organics cart if you prefer; just be sure to cut it into small pieces that won’t get stuck in the cart, and make sure the lid will fully close.
- Flocked trees cannot be composted and will be collected as garbage.
- Artificial trees cannot be collected through this program. Please contact ACI to arrange for a special collection.

Multi-Family Holiday Tree Collection Program
ACI of San Ramon will collect holiday trees from multi-family complexes during the month of January. Clean green trees will be composted. There are two collection methods:
- Complexes with a large number of holiday trees can request a debris box for collection. Owners/Managers, please contact ACI at 925-380-9480 or click here to reserve your holiday tree debris box.
- Complexes with centralized collection services can designate a collection area for trees during the month of January. Area must be agreed upon by ACI of San Ramon personnel. Contact ACI to arrange an appointment. Click here to download a flyer you can use to let your residents know where to place their trees.
REMINDERS:
- Please do not block access to your collection containers.
- Remove all decorations, lights & the stand.
- Cut tree in half if taller than 6 feet.
- Please do not place tree in any type of plastic wrap or bag.
- Small trees may be placed inside your green organics bin/cart if you prefer. Please cut into small pieces that won’t get stuck in the bin/cart and make sure the lid will fully close.
- Flocked trees are accepted, but will not be composted. Artificial trees not accepted. Please contact ACI for collection options.

Construction Continues Between Alcosta Blvd & St. George Road
Work continues on the Crow Canyon Widening Project between Alcosta Boulevard and Crow Canyon Private (Cobblestone).
Work Recently Completed Through 12/19/24:
- Completed curb and gutter
- Completed westbound CMU wall work
- Crow Canyon Road and El Capitan completely paved
- Roadway striping
Work Planned Through 1/16/24:
