Parent Tot classes are an optimal and ideal environment for swimmers under three years old. The emphasis of this class is having fun in the water while focusing on water comfort, games and relaxing in a warm water environment. Parents participate in the class and are encouraged to challenge their child's skills and level of support in the water.
This class also focuses on developing a strong skill set in a more goal-oriented environment to help students smoothly transition from being independent in the water to moving safely in the water.
Note: One responsible person ages 18 or older per child – parent recommended

Ages 6 – 36 months
Designed for young swimmers to gain independence and confidence in and around the water. Swimmers will be taught basic water safety skills. Independent floating on both their front and back, blowing bubbles and maintaining an unassisted back float. Entering and exiting the pool safely, and the basics of water comfort.
This is our first class without parental involvement. This level does not require an assessment.
For swimmers who are hesitant, have fear of the water, or difficulty entering the water without a parent, we recommend Private Lessons offered by ElitSwim or if a group environment is preferred the Splash & Play Water Discovery class offered by City of San Ramon Aquatics Staff.

Ages 3 – 5
Swimmers will be taught how to progressively move away from the pools edge and independently stay on the surface by applying basic swimming fundamentals. Freestyle and backstroke skills are taught along with dolphin kick while floating on the swimmers back. Swimmers will benefit from the small group dynamics led by a caring, competent instructor. Swimmers remain in ELIT 1 until they can properly demonstrate the general fundamentals of freestyle and backstroke.
It is anticipated that children will remain at this level for multiple sessions, as the skills to be mastered are quite broad and varied.

Ages 3 – 7
Swimmers continue to refine the freestyle and backstroke skills learned in ELIT 1. Side kicking and side breathing are introduced and refined as stroke mastery continues. Swimmers are also taught the preliminary skills for flip turns on the wall, the importance of lane etiquette and circle swimming. Butterfly, breaststroke kick and drills will be introduced based on the ability and progressions of the swimmer. Swimmers will work toward swimming a full 25 yard lap in all strokes.
It is anticipated that children will remain at this level for multiple sessions, as the skills to be mastered are quite broad and varied.

Ages 5 - 8
ELIT 3 is designed to provide swimmers a more competitive swim and technique training. These advanced lessons focus on refining all four strokes. Proper breaststroke kick, competitive turns and dives will also be introduced. Swimmers will be asked to follow basic interval training sets with variable speeds.
To qualify for this level, swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards (one lap) freestyle and 25 yards backstroke without stopping.

Ages 7 – 14
Designed for beginner swimmers ages 8 – 13 years old, who have difficulty swimming 25 yards (one lap) of freestyle without stopping or without the assistance from an instructor.
Basic swimming fundamentals and independence in the water are the primary focus. Swimmers are taught how to progressively move away from the pools edge and independently stay on the surface by applying basic swimming fundamentals. The goal of this class is for swimmers to achieve swimming short distances independently before moving on to more advanced skills.

This Stroke Club focuses on enhancing participants' strokes and overall technique. Whether you have never been able to swim or wish to perfect your strokes, we offer specialized adult sessions. We adapt our teaching techniques to your skill level and together help you reach your ultimate goals. This is a very popular class amongst adults looking to learn to swim for either exercise or recreation.

Private swimming lessons are the fastest way for you and your child to learn how to swim or advance to new levels in swimming.
A personalized and distraction-free instructional environment of one-on-one lessons allows students to take an accelerated path towards their goals. Our highly trained instructors, many with a competitive swimming background, care about your success. Instructors communicate every step of the way as they continuously refine lessons to meet the swimmer's needs.

Family Small Group Lessons
For immediate family members only, up to three participants. Differences in each participants ability will effect the efficiency of the lessons. Swimmers will learn in a safe and productive environment.
To register for Family Small Group Lessons, please register for a private lesson and pay for one swimmer, then waitlist the 2nd or 3rd swimmer for the same activity. A staff member will contact you the next business day, to complete the registration for any additional family members on the waitlist.

Splash & Play Water Discovery
Offered by the City of San Ramon Aquatics Staff, this class is designed for children who are hesitant, have fear of the water or difficulty entering the water without a parent. The class will help prepare participants to be able to enter swim lessons in a group setting, however the class is not a swim lesson.
Participants will learn independently without parent involvement. City of San Ramon Aquatics Staff will help participants acclimate to the water through game play, having fun and learning about basic water safety. A portion of the class includes free play time in the play pool to create a positive experience in the water.
Participants will check in at the gate leading to the play pool for this class. Parents will be asked to stay in a designated waiting area during the class. It is important for parents to stay out of the child's direct sight during the class to promote the child's independence and confidence in the water.
